Board Member Biography

Marjie Grazi Harbrecht, MD

Dr. Harbrecht is a board certified Family Physician and currently serves as the Medical/Executive Director of the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative (CCGC). She has been with the organization since 1999, serving as Board President for two years before being appointed to her current position. Dr. Harbrecht became interested in guidelines during her role as a Physician Risk Manager with COPIC Insurance Company, where she developed a comprehensive Breast Management Guideline Program to prevent delays in diagnosis of breast cancer. The program was evaluated during her tenure as a Senior Consulting Research Scientist at the MGMA Center for Research, and showed promising results when the systematic approach was followed. Dr. Harbrecht has used that experience for several other guideline projects and has lectured nationally about quality improvement, risk management and patient safety issues. She is now working with CCGC to focus on helping practices implement systems to make it easier to improve quality, safety, office efficiency and satisfaction. She also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. As an extra-curricular activity she enjoys golf and vocal performing, with the most memorable experience coming from singing the National Anthem at a Colorado Rockies Baseball Game.
