Carolyn Swenson, MSPH, RN

Guidelines Project Manager

Carolyn is an RN and family nurse practitioner who studied public health at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (UCHSC).  She is a project manager at Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative (CCGC) where she has worked on adult and pediatric immunization projects; depression improvement in primary care; and diabetes, depression, obesity, and immunization guideline committees. Past work includes public health nursing on the Navajo reservation; refugee relief work in Sudan; migrant health care; and program development at a center for survivors of torture and war.  From 1989-2002 she worked for the San Luis Valley Health Studies in southern Colorado as the field coordinator of epidemiological research on diabetes, cardiovascular disease and aging; and preparing publications for those studies on depression, cardiovascular disease mortality, and physical activity in older adults. She chose public health because of a strong belief in prevention and a commitment to health care as a human right.
