Paul Ellwood, MD
A medical practitioner for 17 years, Dr. Ellwood's accomplishments in health policy and health systems design are legendary and numerous. Highlights include proposing th eHMO approach to healthcare, developing the first health outcomes-based quality assurance system, and developing the managed competition concept. Ellwood continues to bring together healthcare, public policy and business leaders to share strategies for improving healthcare quality and delivery. In the past, Dr. Ellwood has used the Denver healthcare community as a sounding board for new ideas and concepts. In that same tradition, Dr. Ellwood presented new proposals in the keynote address: Resurrecting American Healthcare: the Power of Clinical Guidelines.
Breakout sessions following Dr. Ellwood's address encouraged audience participation on key topic areas such as Aligning Incentives, Adopting Technology, Engaging Purchasers and Consumers, and Health Policy Solutions. Local experts presented perspectives and experience on each topic, and CCGC Board Members facilitated brainstorming around community solutions.
Our keynote speaker, Paul Ellwood, MD, would appreciate feedback on his paper, President Bush: Finish the Work You Began with a Central Banking Approach to Health Reform. Please email Dr. Ellwood with feedback on the paper.
