More Info: Download the flyerThis presentation is the first in a series of three events sponsored by the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative (CCGC) and SBIRT Colorado on how to implement Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treat (SBIRT) in healthcare settings. SBIRT is an evidence-based approach to reducing risky substance use and improving health outcomes. The SBIRT practice consists of universal screening in healthcare settings to identify healthcare risks related to substance use, brief intervention using motivational conversation to explore options for positive change, and referral to specialized treatment during any phase of the process.
Please note: Due to the generous sponsorship of SBIRT Colorado, this event is free for all participants from Colorado (including computer link and CME).
Session 1 Topics:
- What and why of SBIRT, including a brief history of SBIRT
- How to provide universal screening in healthcare settings
- Essential elements of brief intervention
- Critical steps of evidence-based SBIRT practices
